WHAT FUN! (poem by my son Charlie, for Spelling Spree)
I woke up in the morning
to the smell of toast a-burning.
Do you know what I thought?
"If I don't go to school
I'm going to get caught.
Oh, what a way to start!"
I LOVE school, so I put on my shirt,
now grown so tiny that it hurt.
I aty toast that had continued to burn,
raced into the bathroom when it was my turn,
saw the clock and the way things were,
told my mother how much I loved her,
talked and told my sister
just how much I'd missed her,
and I almost missed the bus, but now I was off.
The day would be rough, but I was tough.
I got to school on time, and I wanted to shout,
"Yes, learning is fun and what life's about."
It's that start of a school year.
There is so much to learn, and so much to share.
Hi Philip, that's really sweet, well done to Charlie and thanks for posting will read to my kids now :) Fi
This is exactly the way I feel sometimes about my life. I have practiced now for 30 some years. I have often been defeated by my negativity and stopped practicing often. But for some reason I can still access Buddhahood through this practice so I can't say that my house is finished. I believe President Ikeda says something to the effect of putting the finishing touches on your life in your final years.. Also I practice for my next life as well as this one. Many of my goals are still on my list, But each year or so I manage to turn a corner and am glad I have kept at this path of Human Revolution. I often look outside myself and wonder if I will ever be able to be someone like those I admire so much. So this year my higher nature has asked me to chant three hours a day to try and establish a more concrete life state of the Buddha. I am working on the house again but now with quality materials.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
