Here is the rest of message:
'Also a great idea is having an LSG summer picnic for all members and families. Its good to have events to work towards. Keep everyone interested and excited. This needs organization and a beach or park venue.

I will say cheerio for now as this is a lot for you to absorb.

Take Care - the next few emails I will send photos of forms from my iphone so you can read them - they maybe a bit blurred - then I will check my computer archives drive; to see if I am able to email the original forms.

Hi LSG Members, if you want to start an LSG locally here is what I wrote to Frank from Naples Italy:
Hi Frank,

I am going to see if I have the proposal and Mission Statement and 12 Steps (Buddhist) in my archives back up hard drive - and then will email everything so you can print it out and make a file for LSG Italy.

Meanwhile I will take photos with my iphone of the forms; so you can at least read them and understand what you need to do.

The meetings were similar to AA NA meetings. But more fun and based on our Nichiren Practice.

You will need to get a list of names together of members who would support this LSG group and who would like SGI LSG group meetings.

At each meeting:

We would do gongyo and chant at least 20 minutes before gongyo and 20 minutes after. Read daily guidance for that day.

Then the Leader of the LSG (YOU) would welcome everyone to the LSG group and explain that everything that was said at this LSG meeting would be kept confidential and everyone needed to agree now to this rule before you continued. Everyone says 'yes' and stays or 'no' and must leave. (Everyone usually says yes) also I would ask that everyone that attends the LSG meeting to attend 'sober' .

Then the 12 steps page would be given to each person present and everyone would read them out loud together. (This 12 step paper maybe taken home or given back if member has them already)

At the end of the 12 steps reading. The Leader would ask if anyone has any questions in regard to the 12 steps. If any; then answer those questions and if you 'do not' have an answer then say to the group: 'thats a great question I will investigate and have the answer for you at the next LSG meeting.' Then investigate your sources or write to me with your question so we can get an answer for you.

I always asked each person to check in - as they say in AA - or I would also ask members to introduce themselves & could share their experience; or check in since last LSG meeting. If they wanted to. They do not have to admit they are an alcohol etc. that is a given; as they are at the LSG meeting for Addicts. It seems pointless I feel to keep saying out 'loud' to the universe something you wish to overcome? Thats up to you?

Also, If I knew someone had a special talent: musician, singer, actor, poet, writer, dancer; or were good with their hands making things; whatever their love was? I would encourage the members to share at our LSG meetings. Ask them to prepare to share if they would like to; and get them on a LSG schedule in advance and chant with them to succeed - that way you always had exciting meetings; and could if you wanted to; advertise on a flyer at your center a week before meeting; something like:

'LSG member to entertain us' or something to that effect. You shouldn't use names as its supposed to be confidential.

One thing I noticed about LSG meetings that is very different from AA meetings is that our LSG meetings 'empowered the LSG members and their guests.' So you could advertise on flyers 'empowering meeting' or 'be empowering'! Help people to become strong by participation.

Anyway so much to share with you but this will do for now. Oh also we LSG members enjoyed bringing food to eat after the meetings. And that was also always voted on.

I tried to help the LSG members become participants in the meeting by voting on LSG events.

People with Children could bring them and have a movie for the children to watch that all age groups would enjoy. The children and parents could suggest the movies appropriate. You could ask the older children whose parents were at the meeting to look after the younger ones and ask the parents to bring blankets or sleeping bags and popcorn for the kids to enjoy while the LSG meeting was going on?

A suggestion box is a good idea to have at the meetings so people who have great ideas can put them into the box anonymously.
Also a great idea is having an LSG summer picnic for all members and

Hi Lotus Support Group Members,
Frank from Italy has emailed me privately about starting a LSG in his local home town in Naples. I have tge proposal form and mission statement and guidances and etc etc to begin a LSG in your local area. I began our local group after I graduated as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and I led it once every 2 weeks on a Friday night. First from my home tgen from our SGI Center. I first accidentally walked into a LSG meeting at the SGI Friendship Center in Los Angeles and was so impressed I asked how to get a meeting in my home town and the Leader told me 'you start one'! So I did. I do not lead them anymore at the local level but decided to start a group on this sgibuddhism.org site (Dragon Falls) and SGI members write to me personally from all over the world for my opinions and advice as I am a prof. counsellor. I am retired now but always willing to share Sensei's guidances and how to use Nichirens buddhism to fight the demons of addiction. If any of you would like to contact me personally; please feel you are welcome to do so:
foreavedreammachineusa@hughes.net And my iphone is: 805-455-1218.
Yours very sincerely, Reavell
'Food for thought today: 'All people create daily habits - abusing ourselves in any way - can become a habit - it takes 30 days to break a habit and 30 days to create a habit'. Chant to have positive, healthy, non addictive habits.'

I found the 12 steps for Buddhists to use if they wish too! Just keep scrolling back through previous messages and you will see in 2009 I have placed the 12 steps for LSG members if they wish to use them?
