Cycles of life,
Birth- the start of spring.
The world a-ring
With birds singing.
Enveloped in the happy sound.
Plants and flowers pushing up from the ground,
Greeting newness, creation.
Waking from a long winter vacation.
Spring evolves into summer.
Time of full growing, sun blazing.
Nature's bountifully amazing
With panoramic scenes to behold.
Crowded beaches, bodies lined up,
Oiled and sizzling on the sand.
An ice cream stand,
Children waiting in bare feet
Anxious for their summer treat.
Sudden north winds,
Trees begin to do their striptease.
Leaves in piles.
Halloween tricksters bringing smiles
To people at doors handing out treats
To devils, angels, pirates
Running up and down streets.
Winter slams in with frosted fingers
Tapping on icy windows.
The first virginal snow,
Inside looking out.
The white vista lifts the heart
Until cars and salt uglify
The streets, snow piled high.
We sigh as we begin
To long for sweet spring again.
Thus our lives go through these cycles,
Spring, the birth,
The blade of grass
Emerging from the earth.
In summer to grow
To full fruition.
Preparing for the harvest
Of our life's mission.
Fall, the beginning of decline,
Preparing for the cycle's end,
To put the finishing touches
On a life story well-penned.
Then winter's aging, aches and pains,
Slowing down the body's motions.
Still the heart and mind retain
The seed of youthful magic potions.
Death takes us on our journey
To an unknown destination,
To refresh, renew, get ready
For our next spring of re-creation.
Hi Mark, Just keep going & there's no doubt you will have a tremendous breakthrough. Perseverance is the key. I went through a long period of time filled with doubt and fear,. I finally came to the realization I had to become happy & enjoy life NOW. Not when I'd broken through my obstacles. I realized that today could be the last day of my life. Did I want to spend it suffering? I started chanting to fill my life with the joy derived from the Law. I stopped beating myself up for my shortcomings & accepted myself, for who I am. The good , bad & ugly. Every day I do my best & find joy in that. My health restricts how much I can do, so everything I CAN do makes me so happy & appreciative of my life. I still struggle with my fundamental darkness- now it's a joyful struggle. Every day I am winning, I always keep that in mind. Every day you are winning too. Peace, Kathy
Hi Mark, I'm a friend of Rhonda & Brian. Thank you so much for supporting Rhonda with her struggles. She's an inspiration to me. I've been practicing for 26 years down here in FL. This year has been the greatest struggle for me. From a mundane viewpoint my life is a mess. But from a Buddhist point of view I'm happier than I've ever been in my whole life, BECAUSE of all the challenges I've had I'm seeing & breaking through my fundamental darkness. Having hope in the midst of trials has been the most important thing I've learned. NMRK Kathy Delicato
Hello from Fl. Mark. Welcome to this site... you will find members and old friends from around the world here. Checkout the diverse groups and blogs; join some - start some. They are all great ways to enhance our practice and help us to embrace the spirit of Nichiren's Buddhism as well as "reform the tenants" in our hearts. ~ brian
