Guidance Today - Daisaku Ikeda

What people need most now is spiritual strength and a life philosophy that will further enrich their lives. Many hearts and spirits will be uplifted through the encouragements of President Ikeda's words.

Hi Mark,

The Value Of A Smile
by Author Unknown

A smile cost nothing, but gives much.

It enriches those who receive,
without making poorer those who give.
It takes but a moment,
but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it.

A smile creates happiness in the home,
fosters good will in business,
and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary,
cheer to the discouraged,
sunshine to the sad,
and is nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone
until it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give you a smile.
Give them one of yours,
as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

Hi Mark,

This guidance from SGI-UK has helped me so much since it teaches the great importance of simply repeating to yourself "I absolutely believe Myoho Renge kyo is life itself", while chanting and otherwise.

Nam Myoho Renge Kyo,

Hi Mark,
You must chant with all your heart to just trust that chanting daimoku to Gohonzon will change everything. I constantly repeat to myself "If you wish to free yourself from the sufferings of birth and death you have endured since time without beginning and to attain without fail unsurpassed enlightenment in this lifetime, you must perceive the mystic truth that is originally inherent in all living beings. This truth is Myoho-renge-kyo. Chanting Myoho-renge-kyo will therefore enable you to grasp the mystic truth innate in all life". Its critical to repeat this again and again. The key is to believe that every person is Myoho Renge Kyo, especially people who treat you badly. Even the taxman in the government. I had a great experince this year...for years I had big problems with the government with my taxes, but this year, while chanting about it, I got a crazy idea and I just trusted it. I called the tax man and left a message saying "Nam myoho renge kyo". The man called me back and he was so compassionate and I got a lot of money back. This showed me that the taxman is also Buddha and that I had to believe in his buddha nature. There is something so very mystical about chanting nam Myoho Renge kyo and when I just trust my daimoku, striving to believe "Myoho Renge kyo is life itself", EVERYTHING works out. In my practice, the only time I solve my problems are when I just trust chanting daimoku to Gohonzon, while believing in the Buddha nature of all people. Nobody can give you the answers that you need Mark. Only YOU have the answers to the problems that you have with your wife and son. You must completely trust that as long as you chant to Gohonzon, and strive to believe that 'Myoho renge kyo is life itself...that it is you, your wife, your son, your problems" then everything will change. So, read the Gosho and President Ikeda's guidance everyday and strive to believe more and more that Myoho Renge kyo truly is life itself.
