About Me (tell us a little bit about yourself):
I use to be on this site for sometime but left. Why? Good question. I think it was of me not keeping in touch and focusing on what this site means to me. This is a part of who I am and I like that. I take pride by saying I am member of SGI Buddhism. Another part of me leaving is I didn't feel worthy and just flat out frustrated with what has been happening in my life. I'm back and full force you can say. There are a lot of changes happening to me right now. It's the continuation of why I joined SGI. I lost my focus for a bit there folks. I am moving back home to the LA fairly soon here but it isn't easy. I am a single mom with two beautiful girls. Who look to me for guidance. In the process I have a soon to be ex that has made it very hard for me the last 2 1/2 yrs. But joining SGI has made things better and things have turned my way. I can only do my best and give it over to the Gohozon. Which I haven't been doing. I can say I have been too busy and not attended my mtgs like I know I should. Because of the effect they have on me. In one word a Profound effect. So that is where I am right now. I know there is a word to describe what is happening to me but it escapes me. I'm sure you all know what I'm saying. Peace, Love and Happiness to my SGI FAMILY

New life

As 2009 summer is about to end, I reflect back. I say this because just over a year ago my life was different. I felt that the life I was leading was killing me with depression and no end in site for getting out. I'm not perfect nor do I try to be. I may not have a full time job that is in the field I like or live in a place that I really wanted. But one thing I know is that I have my beautiful kids who are healthy, the love of my family, a part time job and school.
I can't believe that I was right in moving back home to where I am comfortable and know my kids would love. We move out of our homes as young adults to become mature adults and become parents. Some of us move out of the city we knew our entire lives. Feeling trapped and forced against your will can really hurt you inside. I am glad that I am not going through that anymore. I now feel alive and happy. I seem to be either extremely busy or on occasion not busy at all. I chant nearly everyday but still looking for a central meeting place. My time is hard to spread due to new limitations. I'm working on this. Peace , Love , and Happiness

The New Year

Posted on January 27, 2009 at 11:50am 2 Comments

Hello to all - I've started my new year with going to online schooling. What a scary position I have put myself in. I already have little time and now it's even less. LOL, but it is to better my future and finding a new path in what I already know for most of my life. I plan to mix the two careers to hopefully make my skill set better. I have less time with my kids but it only has raised concerns about the safety of my kids. Long story to go into but for those who do know my story you can… Continue

What would you do if you had a member like yourself who couldn't find the time or energy to practice? I ask because I feel so helpless when members are way out there and I never see them or they don't answer my calls or just plain lose touch with them. What can I do to encourage someone who may be like you taking a breather from the practice?

I didn't realize that you had kids. That may be better in the Japanese group. There are more kids there. I will have a lady named Emiko call you. Her English is great and she has an 11 year old daughter. I will talk to her tomorrow.

Hang in there!
Just another single momma with a "babydaddy" who hasn't cooperated for years:)
My "baby" (son) is nearly 12 years old...
Just go from this moment forward... don't worry so much about what you did or didn't do with your practice.
Each day a new beginning. Sometimes I have to start my day fresh several times during the day:)

Greeeeeetings 2 u Aloha:)

Thank you the friend-add!

I agree with what you wrote...it is sometimes very hard to maintain your daily practice when there is so much going on and the negative forces are (almost but not quite) all-consuming. When times are great and we are flourishing I think we (may) take for granted that we have this powerful practice and it makes us feel excellent, etc. but- when life takes us down that bumpy road and we fall off the grid for a bit...whoo hoo...that's when we NEED to chant/Gongyo the most. I myself know this only too well.
