Hi Guys!

I've been looking for the past week for some inspiring Poem from Sensei to YW.

We are having 2 yw receiving GHZ in my district - and I would like to read a Poem & say few words of encouragements based in the poem.

Can anyone Help? I'm looking for the kind of poem that encourage them to be strong, kind to themselves & always have hope.

I google it....I asked around...and myself I have no poem from Sensei... can anyone help? or any woman out there have something?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Linda!

Congratulations for the two new YW and their friends! It should be a wonderful event to see the Gohonzon receiving ceremony there that I wish I could join, too.

To answer to your question, 'Yes, we have!'
Sensei made a poem especially for YW members, on 11/Feb/2007 Toda sensei's birthday.
Could you try to find the English version of this poem by the date, and if not, please let me know.

It begins likely: 'Young Women members...... of excellence and youth!

At the same time, here in Japan, the most famous guidance from Sensei especially for YW members is the one made in a YW meeting in Tachikawa Bunka-Kaikan. Did you ever read this guidance translated in English?

I don't know if you have the English version but a guidance collection for YW is published in Japan, the title is 'Top Runner of Courage'

What I remember now I often heard the three words when I was in YW: courage, wisdom and beautiful smile

I hope this helps you.

Noriko

Dear Noriko!

Thank you ver much!!Arigato!!

I tried to find the Young Woman of Excellence...and I did but it came out to be a christian poem? ehehe anyway even if it is...I still think its exactly what I had in mind.

Though I would be grateful if you have it in English and Sensei's version it would be fantastic.

If not...well then I will change it around... see below:

"A Young Woman of Excellence
Who we all want to be
Doesn't come easy or even naturally.
You must exercise faith that Heavenly Father is there,
everyday in good works and in scripture and prayer.
You become a great woman when you stand tall and true,
so never give up, because the Savior loves you.
Don't be discouraged, when you make a wrong choice.
Do your best to stick to your values and your inner voice.
It's hard to shine bright when the world is so dark.
The Lord knows your struggles and the journey you've embarked.
Choose your paths wisely and soon you will be,
a Woman of Excellence, shinning bright for all to see. "

Is this the one? I just think its beautiful!

Regarding the Collection for YW guidance, I dont have it.

And Thank you for the 3 words - I will always strive to bring out my wisdom, courage & alwayyys smile! :)

Hello again, Linda!

I checked all Graph SGI today, and found something nice for you and your friends.

Five Eternal Guidelines for the Women's Division

1.Everything begins with prayer
2.Advance harmoniously with our families
3.Foster young successors
4.Cherish our communities and societies
5.Joyfully share our experiences in faith

------------------------------------------------------------

A virtuoso musician makes use of dissonances to produce a masterpiece.
Likewise, a family will play in its own way a harmony of growth, fulfillment and happiness.

- Daisaku Ikeda

(translated excerpts from Thoughts on Happiness (Japanese) (Tokyo: Shufu to Seikatsu sha, 2003)

-----------------------------------------------

No matter what suffering and hardships you may experience on the path of life, they are as if in a dream. I pray that each of you women become strong, forever strong, so that just a a stage manager, you will glorify the drama of your life with ultimate victory.

- Daisaku Ikeda

(Translated excerpts from New: On women (Japanese)2003

-------------------------------

I will continue to find more.

Noriko

Any luck?  There was an old book of poetry that Sensei published.  I saw it my college school library in the 1980s but checked out for an entire year his published dialogues with Arnold Toynbee, On Life.  You might get lucky and find it at your local college campus.  I believe it was called 'Songs from my Heart'.

best,

Dan

Hi Linda,

Here's a Pres. Ikeda essay to Young women - The light of the New Century.

Hope this will help.

Frankie

Hi Guys!

Thank you very much for your help!

Turns out it went really great our ceremony & it was the biggest Kosen Rufu Gongyo we ever had! ehehe

I read the poem Noriko suggested...well I still dont know if its sensei...but I changed it around -left it as Unknow Author not to create confusion!

It's exactly what I felt in my heart & what I wanted to give to them:

Young Woman of Excellence

A Young Woman of Excellence
Who we all want to be
Doesn't come easy or even naturally.
You must exercise faith
Everyday in good works and in scripture and prayer.
May You become a Great woman when you stand tall and true,
So never give up, because obstacles will always stand on your way.
Don't be discouraged, when you make a wrong choice.
Do your best to stick to your values and your inner voice.
It's hard to shine bright when the world is so dark.
The Gohonzon will always be your companion on the journey you will embark.
Choose your paths wisely and soon you will be,
A Woman of Excellence, shinning bright for all to see.

the girls were delighted & I was so nervous that I dont remember even reading it! :-O :-)

Now any tips on how to direct your daimoku so you dont get nervous like that?! arrf... :-/

Anyway thank you all for the other suggestions & will keep them for other Ikeda Kayo kai meetings & ceremony!

Have a great week!
