Hi, I am a former Chicagoan, now living in California for the last 22 years.
I am writing as my elderly parents still live in Chicago. On Sunday 1 pm in the afternoon, my 81 yo dad was carjacked at gunpoint at 55th and the Dan Ryan. He was unharmed, car was retrieved 12 hours later.
I am unable to get back home any time soon due to finances. My dad has chanted in the past and has met Amanda Rivera and Almeda Bailey. He also used to play tennis at Tuley Park with a long time WD member who lived on the far south side. I was hoping to hook him up with members who live in the Chatham Neighborhood where he still lives.
I was actually centering Gongyo at the Redwood Coast Community Center in Santa Rosa CA for a Culture Department meeting at the exact time he was being carjacked. Grateful that he is safe although very shaken. Your Daimoku for Alex Poinsett, my dad would be greatly appreciated.
Knowing that people
