Hi, all.
I just added 3 pictures from Brass band in the 80s (one just before a Columbus Day Parade and two from performances in Madison Square Garden in 1986). For some reason I could not add them here. All are on my Main Page.

I just found some old Brass band pictures from the 80s. I'll upload them this weekend.

In 1973 at the Sho-Hondo convention, the L.A. BB was performing for Sensei on a small platform about 3 feet of the ground. The entire LA BB barely fit, even at close quarters. Tubas are always in back, so I was very close to the back edge (yikes). Some-one forget to put a railing around the whole thing (yikes). We must have been marking time and (oopps) I drop of the back of the stage with a sousaphone wrapped "around" me. I was young and strong and hopped back on stage and thought not to much about it. The net day Sensei (who must have witnessed the disappearing tuba) gave me personal attention in a crowd of 3000 members. I never connected the two events until about 30 years later, when I shared my experience with a non-member, of the wonderfull thank-you I received from Mr, Ikeda. The person asked me, how it was that I had the honor of this great encounter. I replied that I did not know. That night I went home (this was 30 years later) and wondered how did I deserve that honor?hmmm. It dawned on me in a flash that Sensei seeing the disappearing Tuba must have come to personally thank me the next day, and probably to make sure I was "alright". Of course I was the envy of the entire band (lol)

Geez, Dave! I'm a 'whoever-you-are' now?!! I was the only person who took pics during the brass band reunion back a few years ago. ;-Dan

Thanks for uploading a photo from the reunion; whoever you are! It's too bad we can't seem to locate pictures from the 80s; great memories.

Here's a couple of pictures, Dave! Took the liberty of putting a group pic in profile photo. Couldn't fit in a few guys on left & right

I was in Brass band in Chicago with Dave and many others not music inclined but it was a Faith movement. Marching in the Columbus Day parade downtown Chicago, and then Preforming in Madison Square Garden. I will never forget it for the rest of my life. Those memories are etched in my life forever.

I used to have some pictures of my Brass Band years and am still looking for them. If you have any pictures left over from your Brass Band period please send me one that I can use for the Main picture for this group. Thanks.
