I have been reading the book, Learning from the Gosho:The Eternal Teachings of Nichiren Daishonin    and I found this lecture piece by Sensei:

"Daimoku is like light. As the Dashonin says, "A candle can light up a place that has been dark for billions of years." Similarly, the moment we offer prayers based on daimoku, the darkness in our lives vanishes. This is the principle of the simultaneity of cause and effect. At that very instant in the depths of our lives, our prayer has been answered."

Favorite guidance from President Ikeda has to be those that are strict as well as those that are warm and uplifting. I like this one: "Daimoku is the foundation of the Daishonin's Buddhism. When we chant sonorous diamoku the sun rises in our hearts. We are filled with power. Compassion wells forth. Our lives are lit with joy. Our wisdom shines. All Buddhas and Buddhist deities throughout the universe go to work on our behalf. Life becomes exhilarating."

This is also from "Buddhism Day by Day Wisdom for Modern Life" By Daisaku Ikeda Guidance for March 3rd
"It all comes down to you. I hope that you won't rely on others or wait for them to do something. Try to develop such a strong sense of responsibility that you can stand up to the fiercest storms, confidently proclaiming, "I'll do it. Just watch me! Please confront reality, look it squarely in the face, and with guts, wisdom and strength, challenge everything that lies ahead of you."

LOVE THIS GUIDANCE!

I love this book and when I read President Ikeda's guidance I am always inspired. Here is today's March 2nd.
"The important thing is not wether we are optimistic or pessimistic but rather that, while keeping a careful eye on reality, we are neither overwhelmed by it nor content with the status quo. We must keep the lamps of our ideals alight while being ready to pioneer uncharted paths. Faith in life and in the human spirit is the necessary foundation for this approach."

Here is a recent quote my husband gave me that I am happy to share with all of you.
" Life is best lived by being bold and daring. People tend to grow fearful when they taste failure, face a daunting challenge or fall ill. Yet that is precisely the time to become even bolder. Those who are victors at heart are the greatest of all champions."

This one of my favorite groups. I appreciate everyone being able to relate guidances of President Ikeda. I know that these simple quotes have given us all hope and courage to live our lives with dignity and victory.

Sensei's guidance
"The entire universe is like your bank account. How much money you want to withdraw depends on your faith"

Cindy, I can always depend on you to help me look at what it is that is my weakness. I would say it is "discouragement." Yes, rouse the forces and take action. That is really so much like the general at the front of the battle calling the warriors to step into the battle for kosen rufu. Thank you.

Thanks Leatta. Everytime I look at myself to see how I need to do my human revolution, I overcome what feelings I have of discouragement...because when you take responsibility for being the one to initiate growth, it is so empowering.

I received this guidance last week from my friend who introduced me to this practice. Again...short, but very encouraging.

TO MY FRIENDS--from Daisaku Ikeda
Now is the time to activate the powers of the Buddha and the Law by manifesting the mighty powers of faith and practice from within your life.
Then, rouse the protective forces of the universe to action.
