OK, I had my meeting with my SGI-USA Central Territory leader.  He has confirmed with me SGI's definite interest in sponsoring and making SGIBuddhism.ning.com officially an affiliate of SGI.

This all new territory for SGI themselves and in the coming weeks they'll be working closely with me, and sometime in the near future after some paperwork is approved, hope to have a direct 'link' of our SGIBuddhism.ning.com site to the SGI-USA and Soka Gakkai websites itself.

So no more declarations on our site that it is NOT an official 'site' of the SGI, and you can tell your members & leaders that this IS an SGI site itself.

I didn't think this would happen so soon but it was my main goal when i (after I joined Chris Tinney's social network group which he created 3-4 yrs ago) first became its unofficial moderator to protect the site from anti-SGI members and make it an oasis safe for both members & their friends & family alike. So mission accomplished!...so far...eagerly looking forward to new developments as word of this site get around and our 7,000 plus members will be joined by so many more in the far & distant future.

best,

Dan

  • DAISAKU IKEDA:
Emerson goes on to say that women reign supreme when it comes to the power of conversation. He extols the remarkable power of women as being "better than song, and varr[ying] ingenuity, character, wise counsel, and affecti...on." {Letters and Social Aimms 93).
The renowned poet and thinker continues: "They are not only wise themselves, they make us wise. No one can be a master in conversation that has not learned much from women..." (p. 93).
The conversation of women of keen perception, who are sensitive to the feelings of others, has the power to open even the most heavily barricaded heart. And it is invariably women's cries for justice that move people to action and change the times.
We of the SGI must learn from women, defend their rights and more than anywhere else in the world, accord women the highest respect and consideration [in our organization.] Men who scold women out of emotionalism are contemptible. I suspect that many such men may feel a sense of inferiority to their own wives, and that is why they feel the need to vent thir frustration.
[from "My Dear Friends in America," p. 257]

To all you wonderful Gakketts out there.

Even if one were to meet a person who could cross the ocean carrying Mount Sumeru on his head, one could never find a woman like you. Even though one might find a person who steam sand and make boiled rice of it, one could never meet a woman like you. you should know that Shakyamuni buddha, Many Treasures Buddha the Buddhas of the ten directions who are Shakyamuni's emanations, great boddhisattvas such as superior practice and Boundless practice, brahma shakre, the four heavenly kings and other deities will protect you just as a shadow accompanies the body You are the foremost votary of the lotus sutra. p325 letter to the sage Nichimyo.

Happy New Year xx

Scientists have figured out through genetic research that we are all descended from one woman, whom they dubbed "Eve," who lived in Africa some 200,000 years ago.

From today, the human race may start reborn through the efforts of one woman, we can dub "Dawn."

PRESIDENT IKEDA:

The 80 years of the Soka Gakkai

have been victorious because

     of mothers' prayers!

The 50 years of fierce struggle

     of the third president

have been triumphant because

     of mothers' prayers!

****

Mother

means someone who is

    never defeated,

it is another word for a person

who is guaranteed to win in

     the end.

Mothers!

Great and noble

mothers of Soka!

May you

who are gentle and wise,

strong and true, like

   Buddhas,

courageously and

   masterfully

conduct a grand

   symphony

of triumphant happiness

resounding high into

   the heavens!

I agree with you Philip...that is such a great reminder of our oneness from our mentor.

It's a shame that up to this date some women are still being exploited in other countries & even here in the US. But there is hope, because we are united in our mission for kosen-rufu...that will make this world a much better place for everyone.

Just like in The Opening of the Eyes gosho....it's about "proper timing".

PEACE...})i({

"My friend, we are brother from the infinite past.
My friend, we are sisters for the infinite future.
No-one, no matter how conniving, can ever divide us."
Prwsident Ikeda, in ODE TO YOUTH

Those lines brought such tears to my eyes when I read them in 1971.
We are equal in our mission, we are all one and indivisible.
Women have been more exploited, and perhaps should be resentful.
Yet, though we are all equal, that we are all equal they may know better than men.
Further empowerment of women throughout the world would solve so many problems.
May we all unite for the sake of an infinite future!
