What is this site for?

This is a privately-owned and private social networking site created mainly for the members of the Soka Gakkai International, and for their friends & family.   It is a monitored and relatively secure site for all members who signed up and wish to interact & connect with SGI members world-wide.

It is not a site that is sponsored, recognized, nor owned by the Soka Gakkai  International, the world’s largest lay organization of believers who practice the faith, teachings & philosophy of Nichiren Daishonin (a 13th century monk who revived the teachings of the Lotus Sutra).  Or more accurately, from the SGI-USA website:

"Nichiren was born in 1222 in Japan, a time rife with social unrest and natural disasters. The common people, especially, suffered enormously. Nichiren wondered why the Buddhist teachings had lost their power to enable people to lead happy, empowered lives. While a young priest, he set out to find an answer to the suffering and chaos that surrounded him. His intensive study of the Buddhist sutras convinced him that the Lotus Sutra contained the essence of the Buddha's enlightenment and that it held the key to transforming people's suffering and enabling society to flourish."

The intent of this site is to provide a safe and interactive environment online for members to share encouragement, support, and report ongoing SGI activities for world peace, culture and education
