The Value Of A Smile
by Author Unknown
A smile cost nothing, but gives much.
It enriches those who receive,
without making poorer those who give.
It takes but a moment,
but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home,
fosters good will in business,
and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary,
cheer to the discouraged,
sunshine to the sad,
and is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone
until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.
Give them one of yours,
as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.
I just listened to some of the recordings on AmericanGongyo.org What a great resource! Thank you!!
I'm curious though. Isn't the "regular" speed daimoku and gongyo pretty slow? The daimoku is at about 30 per minute. At that rate, it takes over 555 hours to do a million daimoku. And a 6 minute gongyo? 4 1/2 or 5 seems slow to me. We do 4 or 4 1/2 at meetings. My personal gongyo is about 3 minutes.
I'd appreciate your comments.
The Gohonzon has delivered a present (gift) to you and wish you a happy weekend.
Please open it and find out what it's inside. Please don't forget to say "thank you" to the Gohonzon.

Thank you for joining A Youthful Diary and Guidance Today.
I am sure our hearts and spirits will be uplifted through the encouragements of President Ikeda's words.
Congratulations for your 40 years of practice. Keep it up. Continue chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo no matter. Good fortune will chase after you. Have a good day. Cheers!
