About Me (tell us a little bit about yourself):
Jodo Shu Buddhist for past ten years, spent past half year searching to see what else there is. Found my way to Sgi because this is real Buddhism for a modern world. The old ways do not work in the way that Sgi does, it was a no brainer to start chanting to change my own life, followed by that of others.

My life is rather boring really. Spent my youth doing all the wrong things, crime, drunk, drugs, prison. Buddhism pulled me out of the dirt of life. It's been a long road to becoming a better person, ten years and counting.

Now I have hit a brick wall, nembutsu is taking me nowhere. My life is still a mess, no job, depression, don't go out much. Yeah, real miserable life.

I started chanting daily, "nam myoho renge kyo", doing all the reading I can to learn the teachings of nihiren.
Why do you desire to join SGIBuddhism.org? Pls answer fully. DO NOT leave blank
My opinion is that there is no enlightenment to be had in this mind. Enlightenment is collective, as in there is no "I", only "us".

Enlightenment is when all beings on earth are in harmony and at peace. The sangha is enlightenment, and so I am joining the only way in Buddhism that has a real working system for this to be accomplished.

And there is of course my own life situation which is a mess. I believe through this practice, I can become happy and free, thus enabling me, to contribute to the peace and happiness of all beings.
What are your expectations from joining this site?
Same as above. To become happy myself and share that happiness with others, resulting in my contribution to the peace and happiness of others.

Being in a forum gives me the chance to be part of a digital sangha, since I have no knowledge of a real one near to me. It is my hope I can learn this Buddhism that I know little of yet, and hopefully I can establish worldly connections here that would lead me to sgi members in the world to begin my journey.
