Big Computer Challenge

I have registered the address "www.sgi-noevalley.org" for my local district. I hooked it to my web server yesterday. I was really excited. But just as soon as I had finished that and begun more work on the site, I found that I couldn't use my database, the thing where I store all important data. Unable to research a better solution, I decided to back up my data and basically start over with a fresh OS install. Oops. It turns out there's a physical flaw in a blank disk I used and so I was stuck… Continue

Fun with web programming!

So I wrote a little php app that allows my district to visit my server and privately view our activities calendar. I'm using a mix of my own code and an embedded google calendar. I think I've found a way around publishing a non-public calendar for safe viewing. You can see the page, but not the calendar here. I obviously wont post the password here but you can see the page. I'm going to put a sample calendar up for people. If anyone wants the php files for… Continue

Shakabuku

I have two friends it very critical crossroads in their lives. Both often would ask if they could sit-in on my Gongyo. Of course, I always suggested that they try it themselves. I think most of us have had the experience of non-Buddhist friends asking to be chanted for. As if the blessings of the Sutra came from outside of themselves, and even weirder, from me. It presents me with interesting challenges to help them see the true nature of Buddhist practice where it relates to them. Patience,… Continue

March 16th!

Posted on March 13, 2008 at 11:59pm 0 Comments

I am so excited about Sunday's activities. We are going to have such a good time. So many people are coming as guests. I even have a friend who will receive her Gohonzon at the event. I know that for me, I am finally awakening - if just a tiny bit - to the reality that I am a real part of the human family and have good things to contribute. So I am really feeling the rush of excitement as the time draws close. I hope everyone has a breakthrough day full of love, laughter, hope, dialog and… Continue

First Blog Post.

Today San Francisco has weather that can only be described as perfect. It was a beautiful day to meet with friends and take time to enjoy reading people's forum posts. What excellent questions people ask! What superb insight and wisdom in people's replies. Bodhisattvas of the earth, all of you. Lets chant Daimoku for sgibuddhism.org and watch it grow tremendously!

I am so excited to be in the SGI at the beginning of the "second act" of Kosen-Rufu. We are the ones who are carrying on… Continue

Hello Grady we never met but saying Yo. I used to be in the New Century brass band in San Francisco and did activities in the San Jose Eastside area. Now live in Japan and don't know when will I be back there. This year I joined the gajokai out here and going through my Human Revolution and my Mentor and Disciple training. Hope to hear a lot more from you.
