Briefly: I retired from the USAF in 2003 and now work at the VA hospital in Phoenix. I'm a social worker and help treat veterans with post traumatic stress disorder. I'm a 28 year member of an anonymous 12-step program. For many years I've thought the concepts of recovery were much like Buddhism but I could not find a way to practice or learn about it. I tried on my own to study and learn Tibetan Buddhism but could not find a teacher. I was introduced to Nichiren Buddhism in late Februrary of this year. My wife and I have been practicing since March 3 and our lives are completely changed. We are so grateful and happy to be Buddhists of the "Latter Day". We received our Gohonzon on 7 March and practice twice a day. Each time we practice we get closer and closer to our true nature. Thank you all so very much.
Why do you desire to join SGIBuddhism.org? Pls answer fully. DO NOT leave blank
Many reasons. To share experiences with SGI members around the world, to learn from other members, to enhance my own practice, to be a better Buddhist.

Thanks for the friend add, James! I'm glad we are on this same path together. You and your wife would enjoy reading my blog post titled "The Aspiration for Enlightenment." It will give you a great head-start in your practice. Please take care and, always be happy....
