I'm only a beginner, but would like to know: when we chant the two chapters of the Lotus Sutra at an SGI meeting in the USA, is that in Japanese? Or, what language is it? I realize this is a silly…Continue

Hi John thanks for your message. Regarding you and partner always be hopeful. In the end no matter what happen between you and your partner maintain and strengthen your faith, practice, and study in Nichiren Buddhism day by day. During your chanting to the Gohonzon just focus on the Gohonzon without any strategies, focus with your eyes on the Gohonzon while chanting diamoku so you can fuse with the Gohonzon and I hope this will help you in your practice. I am doing pretty good and the numbness is gradually going away. You take care.
Best Regards,
Jonnie

It's nice to meet you too John! It is a great pleasure to have you as a friend of faith.
To answer your question, certainly the practice of Nichiren Buddhism has changed a lot as viewed from the direction the music.
I'm practicing since 15 years of age. My parents practiced a branch of Buddhism called Nichiren Butsuryu, who also recited the chant, but we were not happy because believe a false thing, nothing could be positive too.
From childhood she enjoyed music and listening to the classics: Brahms, Beetoven, Bach, Strauss, etc..
At that age, I joined the Banda Marcial Ongakutai Men's GS from Brazil, I learned to read music, learned discipline and thus participated in all events of the organization.
Does 35 years of practice and learned that time and changed my outlook on life.
In music too, the taste for art has been improving, as well as the taste buds will ever improving. I stopped liking music mediocre and disposable. Now I only hear songs that elevate the spirit and magnify the soul, music with meaning and purpose to grow more and more, searching for sounds that balance the emotional state, the sounds that mess with the unconscious.
And you, my friend, what kind of music do you compose?
