Reporting victory to my mentor (master in faith)

Posted on June 18, 2010 at 8:43am 1 Comment

Hi everyone!

I have just printed my dissertation and will have it bound and turn it in tomorrow! What an amazing experience it has been. Three weeks ago, I felt as if I just could not do it and all that I had worked for would come to nothing. There was nothing to encourage or lift my life. Then one of my lovely ywd determined to chant with me each morning, and on the second visit I hit my turning point. I realized that all I wanted to do was to report my absolute victory to Sensei. It…

It is the SGI that taught us the greatness of the Dai Gohonzon.
It is the SGI that taught us the existence of Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism.
It is the SGI that taught us correct faith, the correct way to study and the correct way to do gongyo.
It is also from the SGI that we learned how to live a valuable existence.

The gift of study and study support

Posted on October 1, 2008 at 8:41am 0 Comments

I am at the moment supporting members in my HQ, with my Men's and vice YWD leader, for the grade 2 study exams. Although I took SGI study exams in the states in my teens, I decided to support my district members I would take both grade 1 and 2. Now I am in the position to take grade 3 next year but am supporting members this year. This year was my 23rd year in faith and it has been a very deep year. I have been trudging loads of deep seeded muck and solidifying my faith in ways I am sure I am… Continue

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----

"The Daishonin writes: 'The three obstacles and four devils will invariably

appear, and the wise will rejoice while the foolish will retreat' (WND-1,

637). Either we advance or we retreat; there is no middle ground. Either we

cringe in fear and surrender to the devilish functions--the negativity in

our own lives or in the lives of others--or we challenge this negativity and

deepen our conviction in… Continue

On the 22nd of March we lost our beloved David Duff.
My beautiful Soulmate and father to our son.
A much loved and treasured ;Son, partner, brother, nephew and cousin. A great disciple of Sensai; a young mens division, poet, friend and inspiration to many all over the world.
He was 33 years of age.
We miss him, grieve him and are also made joyful in his memory.
He was a buddha in and life as he is in death.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"People always have many different roles to play. The crucial thing is to be
determined to do one's best in everything and be fully engaged in what we
are doing at any given moment. To worry about the job when it is time to
focus on the children and then worry about the children when it is time to
focus on the job is a half-hearted way to go about either task. As Nichiren
Daishonin writes: 'Even an individual at cross purposes with himself is
certain to end in failure' (WND-1, 618). The secret to successfully
fulfilling a variety of roles is to concentrate fully on the task at hand
and give it our best effort with enthusiasm, maintaining a positive,
forward-looking attitude and not worrying."
