War Madness and War Criminals

A must-read article about the collective madness of our society in war. Get to know why the current leadership are war-criminals. Here's a quote:

Remaining outside the frame of mainstream U.S. debate was any serious examination of the war’s fundamental illegality.

During the post-World War II trials at Nuremberg, the United States led the world in decrying aggressive war as “the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within… Continue

Fun with web programming!

So I wrote a little php app that allows my district to visit my server and privately view our activities calendar. I'm using a mix of my own code and an embedded google calendar. I think I've found a way around publishing a non-public calendar for safe viewing. You can see the page, but not the calendar here. I obviously wont post the password here but you can see the page. I'm going to put a sample calendar up for people. If anyone wants the php files for… Continue

Jill Bolte Taylor: My stroke of insight

Jill Bolte Taylor: My stroke of insight

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story of recovery and awareness -- of how our brains define us and connect us… Continue

SELF LOVE by B.B. Berg

I awakened this morning to the gentle murmur of my own heart.

I am seeing for the first time my beauty, my soul, my life itself.

This grace and radiance runs deep into my bones and all my cells.

My glory transcends all social mores.

It is a a blissful, serene beauty, independent of the outer realms of existence.

I am brimming with a pure joy of my own unconditional love.

This overflowing bliss bathes all my dear friends

in a crystalline… Continue

I have two friends it very critical crossroads in their lives. Both often would ask if they could sit-in on my Gongyo. Of course, I always suggested that they try it themselves. I think most of us have had the experience of non-Buddhist friends asking to be chanted for. As if the blessings of the Sutra came from outside of themselves, and even weirder, from me. It presents me with interesting challenges to help them see the true nature of Buddhist practice where it relates to them. Patience,… Continue

March 16th!

I am so excited about Sunday's activities. We are going to have such a good time. So many people are coming as guests. I even have a friend who will receive her Gohonzon at the event. I know that for me, I am finally awakening - if just a tiny bit - to the reality that I am a real part of the human family and have good things to contribute. So I am really feeling the rush of excitement as the time draws close. I hope everyone has a breakthrough day full of love, laughter, hope, dialog and… Continue

20080313 "The Present"

It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking.

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.

His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs,… Continue
