Living Healthy

I must say that I am challenged by the Oklahoma lifestyle. This last year has been challenging to an extreme as I have a condition that needed my immediate alternative health attention (story in a later post). What it has foced me to do is completely revamp my daily life in terms of food, supplements, exercise and enlightenment. It's very funny how in this fair state, a beef state, how much vegetables are NOT revered. They cook their vegetables until they are not vegetables anymore. Fresh?… Continue

I am VERY new to SGI and in all that I have read about SGI and Nichiren Buddhism, it talks about the "Gohonzon"- how important it is, and how the practice of SGI is done while looking at the scroll piece, etc. Well, at the SGI-USA store, they have the Gohonzon Case, however, not the scroll piece to be placed in the center of the case. How/ when/ where does one get it? What are the necessary steps- if any? or can someone just ask for one? and who to ask? Sorry, these are probably very silly… Continue

SGI Charter

Hello all! I always check the SGI-USA page for info/ updates/ etc, and when I read the "Charter" section, I noticed that number "10" was gone?! Did I miss something? Does SGI no longer say that "SGI shall contribute to the promotion of education, in pursuit of truth as well as the development of scholarship, to enable all people to cultivate their individual character and enjoy fulfilling and happy lives." ???

Shakubuku Today

Today, I am just celebrating that special feeling when you introduce someone to this practice. Actually, I am introducing two people, one is receiving gohonzon in a week or so and the other is on the west coast and struggling. Amazing how the internet is so helpful in giving this peaceful practice to others. Her comment was, "I can't believe that a stranger would care so much about me." Such is the Buddhist way....in celebration of that bodhisttava reward, here is a chorus from the faraway… Continue

The HEART is a terrible thing to waste <3

I listened to some advice from Adena Sampson and I'm so glad I did!

One of her videos on PowerfulIntentions.org is called "Think it so, let it go".

As in think about what it is you desire, put it out there spiritually, and let it come to you!

Without freaking out about how it will come or if it will come or if you're not doing something right or "scratching out" your thought by giving in to your negativity, etc etc lies lies lies!

I edited her phrase to fit… Continue

"LIFE'S SPLENDOR forever lies in wait about each one of us in all its fullness, but veiled from view, deep down, invisible, far off. It is there, though, not hostile, not reluctant, not deaf. If you summon it by the right word, by its right name, it will come. "~Kafka

My First Video! The Forever Green Lifestyle Tour

We just made the above video. We're at my mom's house in California waiting for Cody to show up with the RV. It's supposed to be done getting wrapped today. The RV in the video was digitally created to show us what it would look like.

It's been interesting to observe how I feel as I get rid of everythig in my life that doesn't fit on an RV and get ready to tour the country on the Forever Green Lifestyle Tour. To see how much "stuff" I've… Continue

For two days, I've had a visitor.

Bartek is a friend of a friend of mine, and since he had only two days left in Holland before he was going back to Poland, he stayed at my place. He was journeybound at 5 this morning, and yesterday I said: "Oh, then I'll see you tomorrow! I'm going to chant at a Buddhist friend's 6.15 in the morning!"

In the morning I got up and did gongyo before leaving. Nowadays I feel more like doing that.

Bartek left the house somewhat earlier than me,… Continue

Sansho shima and the Jedi knight saber

This morning: a lecture on Sansho Shima from Japan.

it was so exciting that I forgot my notebook and copy of the lecture at J.'s.

After retrieving it and after the streetparty I began to re-read it.

And while I do....

a green lightsaber hits the rails in front of me. No child in sight. Only thing: tram passing on the other side of the street, windows closed. Doors open: a few people get out, but no kids.

I take it home with me. I always… Continue
