The Power Of One

Standing Alone

People come into your sphere and for beautiful moments your worlds merge. You blend; reality takes a new colour and flavour. I always loved that, the spectrum of understanding you could feel for all the wonderful people of the world. My problem was never judgement of others. I just refused to listen to myself and left I open to abuse. I have chanted for 16 years and in the last four I have finally been able to change this fundamental aspect of my karma.

Since 14 I have… Continue

is this what we've come to as humanity?

Resting on our laurels

content with little lives on this planet

kosenrufu going no further than our doors?

What about the powers of the bodhisattva

what about nam myo ho renge kyo

what about the others out there

who suffer or wallow in delusion

stuck in mud and grime

do we content ourselves with the sixth level of being?

Of all the people in my course

only one could believe…

Shakubuku anger

Damn, damn damn! I know I'm not supposed to swear, much less be angry with myself, but I am.

Tonight I was appointed assistant-chapter leader. As we counted the amount of YW in our chapter, and I recalled all the effort one of our YM has to put singlehandedly in youth meetings, disappointment rose in me and later was given full vent as a great anger. Damn, damn damn! Despite all the painstaking care of our YWleader the harvest is so meager and the territory is so virgin and wide.… Continue

2012 Message

September 23, 2008

We are all expressions of the divine. In this time we are on a path, as we always have been. At this time our next large shift is in the year 2012, in the years leading up to it many have spoken of it, and with good reason, many are becoming aware of the divinity that is all, we are becoming aware of divine evolution. Today, I write to express to those who have maybe only an inkling of what 2012 signifies. There are more layers to this than can be expressed in the… Continue

I lay awake last night in the conservatory with the light of the moon saturating me with its glow. I had to take my Mum and Dad to their flight at 4am. I literally lay with my eyes wide open, thinking, contemplating about life. All the drama of recent days. How much was my fault, why didn't this person behave in a way I felt was necessary to my life, blablabla!

I even chanted to go to sleep nothing helped though. I was so haunted. When 4am came and my Dad came in, I was wide awake. I… Continue

Hey all

I've upped the anti on my diamoku. 40mins just isn't enough to get through what I've got to get through. Chanted 3hrs today just filling my life with buddhahood, feeling it going out from my heart to the tips of my fingers and toes.I need to enlighten myself. This is not about anyone else. If I'm suffering, its me that's doing the suffering and it's my attitude to myself and others that has to change. I know I've got so much stuff I need to transform to get where I'm going. I know… Continue

Hey all

Back again on day 34 of my determination. What I didn't mention is that on top of everything my son and I have developed crippling chest infections and as a result he's been off school and I've not been working on the old melodies?

Today however we moved forward and I had a lovely conversation with him. We talked about missing my ex, about how angry my son felt and how sad we both were. It's been the first time we allowed each other to be. We decided we'd make a wee… Continue

day 32

Ok,so I've decided to try n keep a diary of my determination to keep me on the right track.

32 days ago I started a campaign till the 31st of December about my family and my career and really getting over all the damage that was done by the evil X, becoming a confident young woman once more.

My determinations were:

for my district-I will change whatever I have to change to be able to give to my district. I will be the best woman in my district. To… Continue

Why I wake in the Night?

When the devilish functions awakes me in the night, every night when something is weiging heave on my mind. I chant Nam-Myoho-renge-Kyo to defeat that funtion and return to a peaceful sleep. To allow that devilish function to awaken me every night is to allow it to have control of me. When in actuality I am in control and NMRK is my "state of Buddhahood...the natural development of joy, increased vitality, courage, wisdom and compassion."

I have so many treasures of the heart.

"More valuable than treasures in a storehouse are the treasures of the body, and the treasures of the heart are the most valuable of all. From the time you read this letter on, strive to accumulate the treasures of the heart!". - Realizing yesterday that my ex-husband had married my ex-best friend I lamented over them living the life that was supposed to be he and me. It wasn't until I talked to my boyfriend Julio that he reminded me to chant and realize the treasures of my heart. I am rich in… Continue

"The Daishonin writes: 'The three obstacles and four devils will invariably

appear, and the wise will rejoice while the foolish will retreat' (WND-1,

637). Either we advance or we retreat; there is no middle ground. Either we

cringe in fear and surrender to the devilish functions--the negativity in

our own lives or in the lives of others--or we challenge this negativity and

deepen our conviction in… Continue

The Deep Magic (this was sent to my HQ by my co district leader, Eric)

"'changing ones karma' could be described as transforming the

unceasing cycle of rebirth in the evil paths owing to the serious

offence of slander of the Law committed in past existances, into a

cycle of rebirth in the paths of good. this could be thought of as

altering the course of our lives on the vast dimension of past,

present and future"

effectively this is saying that our past slander of the law led to

rebirth in the evil paths leading to the… Continue

My experience shared today at Kosen-Rufu Gongyo...

According, to Nichiren Daishonin, in a reply to the lay nun, Toki, from a letter entitled, On Prolonging One’s Life Span, “You still have many years ahead of you, and moreover you have encountered the Lotus Sutra. How truly precious your life is!” How truly precious indeed….

My story actually began approximately 12 years ago, but I had no idea that there would be a story, as I went from doctor to doctor, attempting to piece together all of the elusive symptoms that I had been… Continue

An easy rainy day...

This morning I awoke to the very prickly lapping of my kitten's tongue on my nose and cheek. The purring was nice too. I thought, "How nice it is to be here, in this bed on a rainy day with my little friend." (The kitten actually belongs to my daughter, but you know how that goes.) Then I really looked out the window. I'm sure for many the weather has created havok in their physical worlds. To me the day was not dreary at all. Soothing. Easy. Calm. But I ask that we all offer Daimoku for peace… Continue

The Blessing of Friends

I finally moved this last weekend. It has been LONG anticipated, I have been wanting to move since last fall. I stayed where I was, 45 minutes from where I worked because I was helping an injured friend. There were reasons I needed to move, for myself, and for her sake as well. The lllooonnnggg drive was wearing on me, and I barely got to spend any time with my son. I had to drop him off early, pick him up late, and when I got home, my friend I lived with wanted attention after being cooped up… Continue

What's good for the body is good for the soul (and your buddha nature and mission as a bodhisattva)

Just my own opinion based on my current challenge to rise up with daimoku and action for a healthy life. Anytime we overuse our bodies and damage them from partying, traveling or just living, this is a good way to detox. I know the recipe sounds maybe a little peculiar to some people, but as I sit here sipping it from my bowl, I can tell you it tastes very good. I followed the recipe and then just added a 1/4 teaspoon of kosher sea salt and a tablespoon of tofu for protein. You can live on… Continue
