This is just one of my many letters back and forth to this very hard headed guy, who I really should just let be, because I don't think he get's anything I say. But since he first contacts me I feel I have to answer him.
I don't know why I keep answering your questions.
You are so skewed in your thinking and you try to put words in my mouth,
like saying I claimed that unless you follow the SGI you can't get
benefit. None of my emails said anything like… Continue

Nichikan Shonin states: Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is the finest of all varieties of medicine. In other words, through our faith, each of us can individually exceed the limitations of all conventional and complimentary Medicine and through the battle against any illness, we can grow as human beings overcome this illness and strive in body and mind for a transformation in our personal lives.
The power of Daimoku is enormous! We don't have to grieve about… Continue

Ten years ago - where were we? We weren't Tweeting. Some of us had websites; we weren't blogging; and as for a podcast?
I've just downloaded the Amazon Kindle software
to my netbook (a computer about a million times stronger than the one that got man to the moon in 1969, and fits in my handbag neatly). This software allows me to download entire books through Amazon and just read them adhoc, on my computer. Real Kindles are great - but out of my financial league at the… Continue

Thank you for all your daimoku. My Father, Law Gart Huan passed away peacefully on 9 November 2010 with the resounding rhythm of Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo in the background. We grieve his loss immensely. But we also took time to celebrate his life, in particular how he attained ultimate victory in Buddhahood based on the Mystic Law.
The eulogy that we prepared for him is posted on my… Continue

Recently it occured to me that in some situations, the only way to really know what the right thing to do is, is to jump right in and see how it feels. This seems to me to be a great relief, because sometimes we chant about various situations, and we can still come away not knowing what we should do. In fact, I think if we are chanting, whilst trying to wrack our brains about how to proceed, then we are not really letting the daimoku work.
So how about a few practical examples. Well, the… Continue

What Is Karma?
SGI-USA Members' Resources | Resources and Tools | Buddhist Concepts
Human beings have long ascribed to fate, destiny or even God's will problems they felt powerless to resist, resigning themselves to these perceived forces. The ancient Greeks envisioned three elderly goddesses—the Fates—who controlled people's lives. The goddess Clotho determined birth, spinning the thread of human life; Lachesis dispensed that thread, steering the path a person would follow in life;… Continue
