Extraordinary experience

Extraordinary experience I had last week

... not only have I had volunteered on so called Xmas Day & 27th December in Crises working with homeless people ... thanks to my friend & SGI YM Sebastian who actually reminded me about the Crisis at the right time....but I've learn so much about me in such a short time.

I had based myself on two extracts from daily encouragements

Let us always give something. & "What is this person's state of life?"

I was… Continue

Mount Fuji

Just came back from a trip to Shizuoka prefecture and was fortunate enough to see it- Mount Fuji in its stunning beauty. It was not my first time seeing it, but there was something special about it this time. It was glowing with a thin ring of clouds by the top. I remembered receiving a file from Sensei with a picture of Fuji and the words "Be as strong as the Mount Fuji". And sometimes I just feel I'm totally there and there are days (like today) when I feel it's impossible and will never… Continue

My Annual 5 X 5 Daimoku Celebration

This time of year is the time of year that I reflect on the past year, my accomplishments, what I am going through in the current moment and where I want to aim my life in the next year(s). With the Women's Division theme so appropriately embracing "THE BUCKET LIST" I sat down yesterday to start my bucket list. I worried that it would be too long so I bought an inexpensive spiral journal so that I could expand on my dreams. Thinking big is hard. I have written a list of two pages so far and… Continue

Please support SGI Buddhist news column on Examiner.com

http://www.examiner.com/x-2029-Miami-Buddhist-Examiner

I am a new Examiner who recently began a new column Miami Buddhist Examiner on Examiner.com which gets national exposure. I have applied there as an SGI Buddhist and was accepted as a writer to share one perspective on Buddhism. I am trying to keep my writing simple and universal, something that anyone can readily accept. I wrote a letter to Sensai President Ikeda and promised I will do my very best.

The idea is simply… Continue

To inspire our wishes for the New Year - Year of Youth and Victory

Traveler,
From whence do you come?
And where do you go?
The moon has set,
But the Sun has not yet risen.
In the chaos of darkness before the dawn
Seeking the light,
I advance
To dispel the dark clouds from my mind
To find a great tree unbowed by the tempest
I emerge from the earth.

The Launch of my new podcast. IT's FINALLY HERE!!!!

I’ve been telling myself for over a year I’m going to start podcasting, but I finally got it started; it was one of my many new year's resolutions. So I did my first podcast as a Winter Solstice present to all my friends around the world, introducing a few of my newest recordings (which are still unfinished) and talking about one of my new years resolution to write a screenplay about the life of Nichiren. My podcast is going to be called “Peace in the Far East.” It's going to be a completely… Continue

From FNCC

Hello friends. I just returned from FNCC, The Golden Stage Conference. It was fantastic, of course.

Anyone who can go visit, should be there.. The refreshing spirit of everyone there is just what one needs to boost their own practice.

Attitude of Faith

“Result is a reflection of your faith in the Gohonzon. Whatever you are thinking in front of the Gohonzon will be true for you. Are you thinking failure or victory? Are you trying to tell the Gohonzon how to solve your problems or are you turning over your heart’s desire with unlimited trust to the Gohonzon? The Gohonzon’s power is beyond the comprehension of our minds. This is why we call it mystic. Our challenge is to dream of results as big as the power of the Gohonzon, which has no limit.… Continue

exploring my talents

For almost 3 years now I have been exploring what other talents i have besides Drag and being an entertainer on the Drag Circut. I have found that through my chanting NMRK I have many many talents that I never knew existed. Painting being one of them. I have found that it has relaxed me and allows me to explore that part of my imagination which i'm longing for, that sort of peace that i'm seeking at the moment.

Writing is another, thing that I have always wanted to persue and I have… Continue

Calling all musicians with digital recording equipment!

As you can see from my last few recordings that I put on this site, they are very unfinished. I need some more instruments, like bass, drums, percussion, lead guitar, violin, cello, flute, trumpet, tenor sax, flugelhorn and any other instrument that you think would fit my songs.

Now that I finally bought my own recording equipment, I'm getting ready to record most of my 35 plus original songs that I have yet to record perfectly and write some new ones. The best 10-15 or so will go on… Continue

I put my prayer bell to good use in a new recording.

Ever since I was very young, I wanted to use the bell I use for gongyo in my music, so I finally did it. On the new recording I put up on this site of my song, When You Smile, I used the bell I've used to chant with since I was very young. I think it was my mom's bell before it was mine (it has a lot of daimoku in it).

This is just experimental at this phase of the recording. I used that one bell and change the pitch to 6 different pitches with Audacity software, which is free online… Continue

This Past Year

This Past Year

My life filled with pain and sorrow

Wondering who’s next. Who will die tomorrow?

In just five months

First it was my stepmother

Then it was MY mother

She was so precious to me

I watched her die tragically and couldn’t help her

Then my sponsor, a day later a close friend

Will it ever end?

Again whose next? Who will it be?

Is it me?

My mind filled with fear

This Past Year

All this loss was just too… Continue

My First Book

buy my book

because it's cool like that!

"All Good Great Things" is Chris Madison's first book showcasing his digitally created artwork. The 8"X10" 80 page book is a collection of selected works and insights into the mind of the artist.

The focus is mainly on Chris' abstract works, with a few typography based images and self portraits in the mix for extra flavour. Also included are four new works… Continue

Buddhism & Reiki...together as one.

Reiki and Buddhism

By Rebecca Holton

www.namkha.co.uk

When I think about Reiki and Buddhism I find that, for me now, they are irretrievably linked. In my practice they are so close that these days they have become the same thing. This wasn't something that I started off with and I found it very surprising when it happened. Discovering it felt a bit like walking into my garden and suddenly noticing for the first time a huge elephant that had always been there. It… Continue

Hello, Cindy, and other montreal people within this community and everyone else too!

Hi, all of you,

I heard about the sgi, center near namur metro..(the same sgi?) and wished to connect with some people in town who practise this way. i walked on a multi faith peace walk a few years ago with Japanese Buddists through the states and so learnt to appreciate their practise.

I would mostly like to find out of there is a place, in town where one can go for meditation or chanting on a dialy basis.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give,

(I found your… Continue

Hello everyone, i am desperately asking you all to send daimokus my way; my life is at rock bottom. SOKA Justice

The 21 November World Tribune 'Seize the Day' pullout includes an article by Young Men's Leader Nathan Gauer entitled 'A Revolutionary of Hope' under the banner Soka Justice.

He referenced Nichiren Shoshu Monthly, a magazine published by Nichiren Shoshu Temple. An article that denigrates SGI President Ikeda, claiming that he has deceived the Soka Gakkai members by encouraging them to make causes that are counter to True Buddhism. The 'bad causes' are apparently not specified by the… Continue

Finding group practice unfulfilling - help this is not a good gakkai attitude

I am going to honest, though it is embarassing: but the truth is I don't want to connect with the leaders of the area I have moved to. I have tried, I find them cold, non-interested, talking at me instead of to me and feel like a student who is not giving them the answers they want from me. The meetings for me are a place to go and be polite and return, feeling disheartened. Talking about it is dubbed 'criticism and slander'. So at this point I am withdrawing from all future interaction with… Continue
