Mary White's Blog (38)

Nichiren Daishonin Writes:

"I am.. Praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground" (WND-1,444) Wholehearted prayer to the Gohonzon enables us to break through all of our obstacles and limitations.

"Please create waves of Victory from your local areas that will ripple out to encompass the entire world."

How many of us are chanting such Strong Focused Daimoku as to obtain water from parched ground or produce fire from damp…

Awakening our Greatness with the Power of the Gohonzon

Hello Everyone,

Today is my 16 year Gohonzon Birthday!! My Husband Jason was there when I first received my Gohonzon. We were dating a few months and I asked him to be there with me. He is the Light of My Life, My Soul Mate. We have been together from the moment we met, 16 years ago! Two months before I met Jason I was challenging many things and I chanted, crying, looking outside my window( I did not have my Gohonzon yet) to meet Someone Amazing, Someone Special. That very next night…

Extraordinary Benefits, Extraordinary Life

I just finished chanting and thought to myself, am I chanting for Extraordinary Benefits? The answer is YES! This Buddhism has NO LIMITS. WE are the ones who limit ourselves and our lives. We are the ones who say, we can't because of this or that. We need to stop those thoughts! We must show proof of this Buddhism through Victory in our lives. We don't chant to live an… Continue

Prayer by Daisaku Ikeda

In this Amazing book on Prayer I wanted to share a quote that President Ikeda had said:

"Who answers our Prayers?

We do- through faith and effort.

No one does it for us."

When we are chanting, we are calling out from our lives the answers we need to have that Prayer realized. The benefits we receive, and whether we perceive them as positive or negative, they are always benefits to move our lives…

Enlightenment

I just read this and had to share it!

President Ikeda said in his book "Buddhism in a New Light". "An important aspect of what we call

enlightenment, or human revolution, is to change the way we see ourselves and thus see the

unconditional value of life within us, which neither requires comparison with others nor depends upon

our transient appearance."

Buddhism is a Win or Lose Struggle

Buddhism is a Win or Lose Struggle. How many times have we heard this said throughout our Buddhist Practice?

Yes, it is. Because we have the Gohonzon, we MUST show Proof. We must show Victory. Through chanting, hitting an obstacle, to that goal, Home, car, job we MUST continue to chant for it until we have that Benefit, that Breakthrough that is there, because IT IS THERE.…

Making the impossible POSSIBLE

How many of us are making the impossible possible? When we are chanting for something and it doesn't happen do we just accept it and move on, or do we say this is just a challenge in front of me and I am going to keep chanting until this prayer gets answered. President Ikeda says in his book "Buddhism For You Prayer",

"There are many elements involved in a prayer being answered, but the important thing is to keep praying until it…

Buddhism Day By Day by Daisaku Ikeda August 19th

Ultimately, we are responsible for our own destiny. It may seem to us that our fate is predetermined, wether by our genes or our environment. What really matters, however, is how we can improve ourselves from this moment forward, how we can change the circumstances that we find ourselves in. This enormous transformative force is what Buddhism is all about. In this struggle lies the source of never-ending youth and vitality.

Please do NOT buy Iams dog and cat food

I was completely shocked to find out that iams is involved in animal cruelty. They do horrible experiments on animals for no reason and they promote themselves as being a pet loving company. You can click on the link below to find out more. Please do not buy this companys food. Thank you!

If you love animals- please sign these petitions

I just added some links to mypage from the WSPA which is an organization that works for Animal Protection around the world. They sent me a link about dogs and how they are raised for meat. This absolutely horrified me and all I keep thinking is how can we stop this? How can we help these poor defenseless animals? I believe that dogs are here to…

Guidance- Power of the Gohonzon

One of the members on this site, Jared, had posted this guidance to another member who is challenging some obstacles and I wanted to share it on my blog because it is simple yet so powerful.

"I hope that everyone is learning the true power of daimoku chanted with a determined, fearless mind to the Gohonzon. As one senior leader has recently encouraged us, if you are not chanting for the impossible to be possible you are not making full use of the…

World Tribune "Friends for Peace- Keep Going No Matter What" May 1 2009

"When we begin chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo to reach a certain goal, sometimes what happens seems to be the opposite of what we think should be happening. For example, maybe you're having a problem with one of your friends, so you start chanting for things to get better, but the problem seems to get worse. Instead of acting kinder toward you, they may start ignoring you altogether! Or maybe you're chanting for something good to happen, but something bad happens instead. At times like those,… Continue

Buddhism Day By Day Wisdom for Modern Life by Daisaku Ikeda

"When we plant the seeds of self-doubt, only noxious weeds sprout. When we
limit ourselves with low expectations, the growth of the tree of happiness immediately
ceases. The power of growth, of improvement, the power to overcome all stagnation
and break through every obstacle and transform a barren wasteland into a verdant field-
that unstoppable power of hope resides right there in your own heart. It will well up from the
rich earth of your…

An Ode to District Leaders: The Front-runners of Kosen Rufu Page 10 A Poem by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda

"Buddhism
solemnly teaches us
how to live correctly
as human beings.
It fully reveals
the correct path-
and, indeed, the law-
of human life.

We must never stray from this path
and lose sight of
the most important human quality
of recognizing and repaying
our debts of gratitude.
