As long as I have been in the practice, I have maybe suggested to my children (grown-ups) about checking it out, I have read or emailed words of wisdom from the SGI site and they have appreciated it.  Recently however, one of my oldest was going thru a rough patch, and fell into a deep depression. I didn't know what to do, nothing I said seemed to help.

One day I had him meet with me on 14 street and Union Square (NYC) I told him I needed his help with some home stuff I was buying. He agreed and we met. Than I started walking and talking towards the SGI Center on 15. When we got in front, I played it cool and said "oh, I want to pick up some books, mind going in with me"? Of course he didn't, so we went in and as I was introducing him to some of the wonderful people, he could hear chanting and got curious. Let me mention that my children have heard me chanting for years now, but he heard what sound like chorus and wanted to check it out. I took him into the beginners group. As they explained, as we watched a Video, more people started arriving and as we stared to chant, of course I brought out my prayer book and behold! My son not only chanted but in perfect harmony.  When we finished chanting, he was asked "Do you have any questions"? his reply was "What took me so long"? He has been chanting ever since. Oh, and he is no longer depressed. NAM MYOHO RENGE KYO
