About Me (tell us a little bit about yourself):
I've been a practicing Buddhist since 1996. I got my Gohonzon in Santa Barbara, CA, and am now in rural northern CA(Humboldt County,Wild Rivers District, Rainbow Chapter). I'm a chef, cooking instructor, avid gardener. I love music, foreign films, art, and anything nature!
Why do you desire to join SGIBuddhism.org? Pls answer fully. DO NOT leave blank
Currently, I'm the sole caregiver for my 98-year-old Mom. She's a very inspiring lady, however, I'm not able to leave her alone to get to meetings and study groups as much as I used to. It would be great to be in contact with other Buddhists around the country/world. It would help me to stay more connected when I can't get to meetings.
What are your expectations from joining this site?
Really, as I said above, to be able to stay connected to the practice and the members. I also need some inspiration/encouragement sometimes when I can't leave my Mom alone. I sometimes feel a bit isolated. And even if I just read about what others are sharing, it would encourage me through a very stressful job of a family caregiver.
Are you a member of SGI?
Yes
