Advancing Peace: Overview

"World peace is not something that can be realized simply by politicians signing treaties, or by business leaders creating economic cooperation. True and lasting peace will be realized only by forging bonds of trust between people at the deepest level, in the…

Heard at a district discussion

The topic was the Ten Worlds, I guess it must have come out of something to do with the mutual containment of all ten worlds in any one of them, because Greg was talking about being in the eternity of the moment. Chaim said that he was always living in the past or the future, and he envied his dog for the dog's enlightenment, because for dogs there is no past and no future: they are always in the moment. Then Greg came up with this capsule of wisdom: when you are living too much in the past,…

Awakening our Greatness with the Power of the Gohonzon

Hello Everyone,

Today is my 16 year Gohonzon Birthday!! My Husband Jason was there when I first received my Gohonzon. We were dating a few months and I asked him to be there with me. He is the Light of My Life, My Soul Mate. We have been together from the moment we met, 16 years ago! Two months before I met Jason I was challenging many things and I chanted, crying, looking outside my window( I did not have my Gohonzon yet) to meet Someone Amazing, Someone Special. That very next night…

Extraordinary Benefits, Extraordinary Life

I just finished chanting and thought to myself, am I chanting for Extraordinary Benefits? The answer is YES! This Buddhism has NO LIMITS. WE are the ones who limit ourselves and our lives. We are the ones who say, we can't because of this or that. We need to stop those thoughts! We must show proof of this Buddhism through Victory in our lives. We don't chant to live an… Continue

Tokyo after the earthquake

In this summer, from the 1st of July to the end of September, all people or companies in metropolitan zone (around Tokyo, to be said Kanto area) have to face a new challenge against limited power supply in the hottest period caused by the disaster.

The Government led energy saving to ensure enough power for air conditioning to protect old or sick people at home or at hospitals in the period is now active, after having lost major power supply from Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant which…

Making the impossible POSSIBLE

How many of us are making the impossible possible? When we are chanting for something and it doesn't happen do we just accept it and move on, or do we say this is just a challenge in front of me and I am going to keep chanting until this prayer gets answered. President Ikeda says in his book "Buddhism For You Prayer",

"There are many elements involved in a prayer being answered, but the important thing is to keep praying until it…

Alongside victory came realisation

As a journalist, I often find myself doing stories that are newsworthy but controversial or lets put it simply, bad news. Some days back a similar story of mine offended one of the companies mentioned in it. The General manager called me and yelled like no one else had ever done in my life. I was unable to explain the situation as she was just not ready to listen. This left me VERY uncomfortable. To make matters worse, I had scheduled a lunch appointment with her some days back which was to… Continue

When people are ill around you

I know that this may be controversial to actually speak out about something, but I think it is important enough to take the risk and speak my mind.

I brought a fellow member to Kosen-rufu gongyo who has cancer and was very frail and walking with a walker. We went into the bookstore which had a long line. I was hoping that the people in the line would notice that this person - weak, frial and obvously quite sickly maybe should be at the front of the line instead the back waiting and…

Bodhisattva Superior Practices, President Ikeda, & Me

I originally wrote this in response to someone who felt it was wrong to consider President Ikeda to be Bodhisattva Superior Practices. He was upset with the way certain SGI-USA leaders had responded to him and had decided to join Nichiren Shoshu, feeling that President Ikeda had led him astray.

My response to him includes my understanding of an "AHA!" revelation I had last year regarding the mentor and disciple relationship…
